How To Be More Productive: Introduction

We all know them. Those enigmatic people that manage to do many different things at once, or one thing so incredibly well that it makes you wonder: how are they doing it? It can feel like they are able to do more work in less time. They are just so productive. Most of us would love to have that level of productivity.

But, what exactly is productivity?

Productivity knows many definitions, depending on the field in which it is used. For personal purposes it can be helpful to think of productivity as the following: ‘’the process of converting input into output in the most efficient and effective way’’.

At BeMore we are all about becoming the best version of yourself. A logical result of that ambition is an interest in increasing your personal productivity. Being productive can help maximize the time that you can theoretically spend doing the things you love doing most.

But, while it is a very valuable thing to strive for, many find the task daunting, complex, overwhelming or confusing. Where do you start? What are the best tools? How do I deal with procrastination? How can I become more disciplined to work when I need to? These are just a handful of questions that we, and probably many of you, have asked or will ask yourself when trying to become more productive.

That said, we at BeMore know the struggle all too well. However, we are also very aware that there are, now more than ever, so many useful resources available to help you find out how to become more productive. There are more books on productivity than you can read in your lifetime, and the same goes for online resources like podcasts, articles and scientific papers. Finding the truly valuable ones can feel like finding a needle in a haystack.

That is the reason we decided to help you in your path towards productivity. Not only through our own experience, but also knowledge, tactics and advice from the best books, podcasts, experts and research on the topic of productivity will be combined in this five part series on productivity. We will take a deep dive into becoming productive. Not just at the superficial level of lifehacks, gadgets, software and other short-term tactics, but also on the long-term by looking at your lifestyle, your personality and spiritual development. We believe real, sustainable productivity has to be integrated into all facets of life. Only then will you be able to utilize your maximum potential - consistently!

That said, let’s look at the main structure of the series:

The series will treat 4 factors that all have a major influence on your productivity. These factors are:

  1. Environment

  2. Planning

  3. Lifestyle

  4. Psyche

Each of these topics will be thoroughly analyzed, elaborated on and distilled into the most actionable advice you can find. We will facilitate this by writing in-depth articles, creating podcasts, shooting videos and hosting (digital) meetups that help you master and implement all the knowledge to help you become more productive. The first factor, environment, is the factor that can show a noticeable effect the fastest. As we progress through planning, lifestyle, personality and spirituality the factors become more oriented on long-term productivity. It is up to you where you want to start.

The first topic that we will analyze in this series is your environment. Modifying your environment will have the fastest effect on your productivity out of all the factors. We will answer many questions like: How does your environment influence your productivity? What can you do to make your environment less distracting and more motivating to get to work? What tools, tips and tricks can you utilize to get the most out of your environment?
